Jane Baxter Miller is a singer and songwriter living in Chicago with her roots in Eastern Kentucky. She discovered bluegrass music and began singing while attending West Virginia University. She left WVU with a B.F.A. in theatre and a burning desire to see the big lights of a big city. She soon found herself working with a theatre in Pittsburgh, PA and was indeed awed by the bus system and many traffic lights. With big city and big winter experience now under her belt she made her way further north to Chicago, IL to experience an even bigger city with bigger lights and meaner winters.

In the hinter lands of Chicago she met Kelly Kessler and together they formed the Texas Rubies. As one-half of this spunky country-duo she had the honor of opening for cool people like Guy Clark, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely and Carlene Carter. When The Texas Rubies went their separate ways, Jane formed a a short-lived R&B group called Baxter with Ken Vandermark on reeds, Kent Kessler on bass, Tim Mulvenna on drums, and Tom Castonzo on guitar. Jane has recorded loads of tunes for compilations on Bloodshot Records and will be releasing her first solo recording, Harm Among the Willows, on Durga Disc in January 2010.
